Sumartin

There are no translations available Situated on the easternmost tip of Brac, Sumartin is an increasingly popular holiday resort. Well placed for sighteseeing escursions, boat trips to inumerable sheltered coves, inlets, shingle beaches etc. Walking and bycicle trails take off in all directions, running through ancient olive groves, vineyards and splendid Mediterranian scenery. Most local houses have been renovated and offer every modern convenience. Cultural landmarks: Franciscan monastery (1747.), including museum with collection of rare books, manuscripts and 18th century works of art (Venetian school). The Early Christian church of St. Nicholas (Sveti Nikola) built on the top of Kruska height affords a spectacular view of the surrounding landscape and seascape. There is much to enjoy out of season such as, for example, a visit on foot, by bycicle or boat to the beautiful deeply indented bay of Rasotica and adjacent levander and rosemary scented village, which is now largerly uninhabited. Direct car-ferry connection from Makarska, safe harbour, sheltered anchorage, fuel, water and electricity supply service for yachts and pleasure craft.
