Blaca Hermitage-Monastery

Set amid dramatically beautiful scenery on a small plateau beneath a steep bluff, the ancient hermitage-monastery of Blaca halfway between Bol and Milna is undoubtedly the most fascinating sight on Brac. Founded in 1551. the hermitage prospered for three centuries as a monastic agricultural cooperative. The world renowned 20th century astronomical observatory founded and equipped by father Nikola Milicevic as well as the splendid library atract scores of sightseers every year. Specatular panoramic view of surrounding rugged landscape and dazzling seascape. Accessible by road, footpath, bike or a boat.
