Early Christian Basilica in Povlja

The present parish church in Povlja (St. John the Baptist) was built on the ruins of an imposing Early Christian basilica (5th/6th century). The marble octagonal baptismal font is the only one of it's kind in Croatia. Frescoes from that period have also been partically preserved.
